Nov. 30 – Following this weekend's London premiere at the Barbican performing arts center, Liz Rosenfeld's Surface Tension Trilogy gets its first Berlin screening tonight, November 30, at the DHM's Zeighauskino. The three short films, produced by nowMomentnow, portray notable women from Weimar history as interpreted by friends and acquaintances of the U.S. American, Berlin-based filmmaker. The screening is presented by the Schwules Museum as part of the Homosexuality_ies exhibit, which closes on December 1. Admission is free.

Frida & Anita depicts Mexican painter Frida Kahlo's one-night stand with androgynous German dancer Anita Berber (scene pictured above); HÖCH shows Dada artist Hannah Höch reflecting on her past; Die neue Frau is centered on Nazi filmmaker Leni Riefenstahl and Mrs. Hitler herself, Eva Braun. In each story, the characters' experiences and interpersonal relationships are imbued with playful contrivances.

Rosenfeld was an onscreen lead in When We Are Together, We Can Be Everywhere by filmmaker Marit Östberg, which premiered in October at the Porn Film Festival. It seems Östberg has returned the favor, appearing in the trilogy's second part, and also conducting a Q&A with the director after the screening on Monday evening.
