Questioning the future: 3hd Festival

COOL FOR YOU

The 3hd Festival returns to explore internet-driven music and art, taking place October 11-15 at HAU, Ohm and Vierte Welt

Oct. 11, 2016 – Since founding the Creamcake party in 2011, Daniela Seitz and Anja Weigl have proven a curatorial talent that's ahead of the curve, showcasing cutting-edge DJs and performers from Berlin and around the world. Last year, they launched the 3hd Festival to explore these internet-driven aesthetics on a larger scale, further integrating visual art and critical discourse along with the music. From today's opening exhibition through the closing party on Saturday, 3hd gathers around 40 participants to tackle the question, "There is nothing left but the Future?" – the subtitle of this year's festival – with performances, presentations, panels and exclusive online content.

The opening at Vierte Welt features ten multimedia artists and writers with works relating to the theme of post-Brexit Europe. Doron Sadja will perform an audio-visual show, Vika Kirchenbauer will present her 3D video installation You Are Boring, and Neda Sanai has created a "sound carpet". On Wednesday, online magazine AQNB will host a screening of music videos titled "Staying Present", followed by a piano concert and artist talk with Kara-Lis Coverdale.

Aside from the white cube of Vierte Welt and the subwoofers of Ohm, the festival also takes place on the stage of HAU2 on Friday and Saturday. Among the highlights are COOL FOR YOU (the music project of Kirchenbauer, pictured), cult duo Easter presenting a new project called "Her Own" in cooperation with the Abortion Support Network, and a new collaboration between DJ/producer Soda Plains and dancer/artist Negroma.
