Feb. 22 – Still no swimming pool, but Berlin's most notorious nightclub is making a notable expansion. Berghain will inaugurate its new dancefloor, the Säule ("column"), on Thursday, March 23, with DJs Alessandro Adriani, Deena Abdelwahed and Natalia Escobar. The team behind the club is keeping things mysterious with a lack of details, but based on the recent construction at the concrete temple, it appears that the new room will be located on the building's ground level.

The Säule opening will continue on the following night, March 24, but the Panorama Bar will remain closed, which is unusual for a Friday. The lineup here takes a more experimental direction (with DJs Dis Fig, Illum Sphere and Laura Clock), in contrast to the club's usual loyalty toward techno and house. The Panorama Bar and the main Berghain will resume with the usual Klubnacht on Saturday night (into Sunday) – sans Säule.

Then on Thursday, March 30, Berlin collective Janus will take over the Säule with a showcase, teaming up with some of their comrades from NON Worldwide. Joining local reps Lotic and Bonaventure will be Angel Ho, Faka and Umlilo from South Africa.

It remains to be seen how frequently the Säule will be open for April and beyond. Or when Berghain will finally open a daycare center.
