Between Bridges brings feminist history into the present

This Saturday evening, Wolfgang Tilmmans' non-profit exhibition space Between Bridges will hold a screening of Lizzie Borden's feminist classic Born in Flames, a science-fiction film stylized as a documentary about a group of radical feminists who take over the airwaves and plot a revolution. The 1983 film won that year's Reader Jury prize at the Berlinale film festival and has gone on to inspire countless feminists over the years (including, it's safe to assume, Berlin DJ/producer Born in Flamez).
The screening will be introduced by Becca Albee – a visual artist working within the fields of photography, video, sculpture and installations – who also cites Born in Flames as an influence. In the 90s, she was in several bands including Excuse 17 with Carrie Brownstein and Heartless Martin with Corin Tucker. Albee has invited Kelly Rakowski (Herstory) to present photocopies of T-shirts from New York's Lesbian Herstory Archives.
