The cult queer rock musical gets a German-language run starring cabaret star Sven Ratzke in the title role
Sven Ratzke (pictured) is back again as Hedwig, the titular figure of John Cameron Mitchell’s cult musical. The East Berliner undergoes a botched sex change surgery and follows her boyfriend to the USA, where she gets let down by love and goes on tour with her band The Angry Inch. In German.

Members of the ‘Cabaret des Westens’ - a troupe where breaking taboos was part of the programme in the 1980s - founded the ‘Berliner Kabarett Anstalt’ in a tent in Kreuzberg. Based in the rooftop theatre on Mehringdamm since 1988, the BKA offers Neuköllnicals, cabaret, comedy, shows, improvisation theatre, concerts, singer/songwriters and musicals.
