Early reactions to La La Land  have celebrated the film as the return of the big Hollywood musical. But despite the spectacular, colorful dance choreography, this romance starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone feels completely current and eschews the stereotypical sentimentality. Flawless cinema!
