Berlin Voguing Out Festival – Opening
- Nov 1, 2016, 7:00 PM
- Südblock
Movie Screening von "Kiki", im Anschluss Meet and Greet
Founded by Mother Leo Melody, Germany’s first voguing festival is back with its fifth edition, its biggest yet, taking place tonight through Sunday at various Kreuzberg locations. BVO Fest kicks off with a screening at aquarium (the newly reopened space next to Südblock): Kiki premiered at this year’s Sundance and serves as a contemporary complement to the classic 1991 documentary Paris is Burning. Aside from daily dance workshops (motion*s), there is a panel discussion (Nov. 2 at St. Georg), a stage performance and a ball (Nov. 3 and 4 at HAU2), and a party with legendary ballroom DJ/producer Vjuan Allure (Nov. 5 at Südblock).
Südblock is a hotspot with a mixed crowd reflecting the diversity of Kreuzberg. A café by day, bar and restaurant at night, sometimes parties and discussions. A meeting point for politically-minded queers and heteros from the neighborhood and beyond.
