Performance art

The Performing Arts Festival offers a survey of Berlin’s independent theater scene, taking place June 13-18 in over 120 productions spread across 60 venues throughout the city! Among them are a good dozen pieces with a queer relevance. For example, tonight (19:00 at Dock 1) is the premiere of “Foreign Body“ by dancer and choreographer Clébio Oliveira (pictured), aiming to create a utopian space for trans* people without the corrective view of society. Elsewhere, “Reading Salomé“ (19:00 at Sophiensæle) puts the Strauss opera in drag, while gay Arabic men teach an ”Integrationskurs“ (20:00 at Acud) to help orient you with life.
