A large chunk of The Great Believers by US-American author Rebecca Makkai, who was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, is set in the Chicago of the 80s. The novel is about gay art expert Jules, who maneuvers through the AIDS crisis. Makkai is celebrating the German translation of her book at tonight’s reading.
