The classically trained singer has a soft spot for the song cycles of Olivier Messiaen as well as for the (female) greats of scat singing. With "A Tribute To Betty Carter", she dedicates herself entirely to the work of the controversial jazz luminary, who had no interest in traditional swing and once fell out with big band leader Lionel Hampton.
