The Berlin Concert Choir presents Lili Boulanger's setting of Psalm 130 (Du fond de l'abîme), combined with Fauré's Requiem – two works that tell of faith, loss, and inner reconciliation in a special way. This concert is particularly exciting for a queer audience because it reveals a musical lineage that reaches deep into LGBTIQ* cultural history: Fauré was the teacher of the sisters Nadia and Lili Boulanger, and Nadia in turn influenced an entire generation of international composers, including Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland, and Virgil Thomson, all of whom were homosexual.
