Brivele revives the Yiddish anti-fascist musical tradition: anti-authoritarian satire meets deep sorrow and the sharp political humor of folk and theater songs—this Brivele (little letter) is a musical correspondence between the fighters of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. With anti-fascist songs from the 20th century, which they translate into Yiddish. These include Wolfgang Langhoff's “Moorsoldaten” (Soldiers of the Moor), as well as ballads by Gershwin and Springsteen (“Hungry Yid”). The lesbian duo's energetic performances (often presented a cappella) are hugely popular not only in folk venues but also in punk clubs.
