Including an introductory performance

For queer people, Berlin was a special place after 1945. Even during the conservative 1950s and 60s, lesbian, gay, and trans* Berliners—in both East and West—found spaces to meet and fall in love; they flirted in pubs and danced at balls, sought out fleeting sexual encounters in public restrooms, parks, and train stations, lived out their relationships in shared apartments, and even embarked on erotic adventures and love affairs while in prison. At the heart of this book lie their stories—often told in their own words.
