Caspar Gutsche—author of the *Early Lesbian Protocols* (1991) and longtime companion of Erika Stürmer-Alex—will read from her debut novel, *Ich tanze nun mal nicht gerne Standard* (I Just Don’t Like Ballroom Dancing), recounting her childhood and her time at the Künstlerhof Lietzen, an artistic sanctuary in Brandenburg established by Stürmer-Alex in 1982. The reading offers personal and literary insights into life as a lesbian woman in the GDR, as well as the navigation of societal gender roles and ideological expectations. Maria Bühner will join the evening as a conversation partner; she conducts research on lesbian life in the GDR and is dedicated to promoting the visibility of queer East German history.
