The athletes Käthe and Klara Tucholla and Brunhilde Prelle in the workers’ resistance movement
Like many working-class neighbourhoods in Berlin, Rummelsburg was a stronghold of the organised labour movement during the Weimar Republic. Alongside the political parties, this included workers’ sports clubs such as Sparta Lichtenberg and ASV Fichte. The working-class athletes Käthe Tucholla and her husband Felix, along with his sister Klara Tucholla and the Zoschke family, lived in Rummelsburg. During the Nazi era, resistance groups formed through shared connections in workers’ sport, in which women such as Klara and Käthe Tucholla and Brunhilde Prelle (née Zoschke) were active. Meeting point by appointment: mitmachen@licht-blicke.org or 030 505 665 18.
