Dance performance about tradition in the diaspora
The 81-year-old performer Naniek K. grew up in Indonesia as a court dancer in the classical Surakarta tradition. In 1978, she moved to Berlin to start a career as a model. This performance is an intimate portrait of an extraordinary artist.
She is accompanied by music from sound artists Rose & Zach, who combine Javanese gamelan with electronic synthesizers.
