Musical documentary presentation and discussion

John Cage’s concept—developed in the 1970s—of bringing together people willing to make music in public spaces, without direction or scores, to form a “MusiCircus”—thereby creating sounds ranging from sonic gems to sheer cacophony—was realized in Bonn in 1979. The happening was recorded by WDR but never broadcast. Two years before the gay composer’s death, a MusiCircus also took place in Prenzlauer Berg in 1990. The AdK am Hanseatenweg commemorates both events through photographs, interviews, and surviving film footage.
