Black poetry and jazz – keywords that immediately bring to mind the names of Giles Scott-Heron, Matana Roberts and Meshell Ndegeocello. And, more recently, that of New York poet Aja Monet, who has gathered together top-class musicians from the Brooklyn jazz scene for her debut album, When The Poems Do What They Do. Some of them will also be present at Aja's first Berlin performance in the venerable Pierre Boulez Hall.
