Even though some die-hard Bloc Party fans complain that the latest album from arguably the most exciting British guitar band of the 2000s has more in common with the electronic solo work of their gay frontman, Kele Okere, than with *Silent Alarm* or *Four*, quite a few are likely to prick up their ears upon hearing that "Anatomy Of A Brief Romance" was produced by Trevor Horn. After all, that name is synonymous with the elaborate, widescreen pop of the 1980s—the kind found on records by Grace Jones, the successful gay band Frankie Goes To Hollywood, and various Pet Shop Boys hits. That could sound fantastic in a multi-purpose arena, even if Bloc Party has to share the bill with the rather uninspiring US post-punk revival band Interpol.
