Trans Musiker aus Brooklyn präsentiert neues Album

Superfan is the musical project of Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Kali Priya Flanagan. Originally conceived as a solo project, the music is now defined in large part by ambitious string arrangements developed in collaboration with cellist Omeed Almassi, shaping Superfan’s sound into a world of pop that is both raw and magnetic.

Following their recent signing to London label AD93 (home to artists including Joanne Robertson, YHWH Nailgun and Dagmar Zuniga), the three latest singles – “Miss W Jones,” “Apeiron (Fantasy Football)” and “Picture Of Return” – mark the birth of “Acousticello.” With a newfound confidence and a clear artistic vision, Kali moves away from direct storytelling towards fragmented, impressionistic lyricism, channeling heartbreak-driven ballads through veiled imagery and literary finesse – an expression of a growing trust in their own words and voice.

The latest evolution of Superfan’s music is a poetic blend of indie rock and chamber pop, deeply influenced by Flanagan’s classical training as well as the Eastern cultural heritage of both Flanagan (Indian) and cellist Almassi (Iranian).

Their new album, “My Piledriver Heart,” is due out on October 16 and is hauntingly beautiful. Hear the new music live at Silent Green.

Opening the evening are Coals, aka Kacha and Lucassi, a duo that grew out of home recordings shared on YouTube and quickly developed into an internationally acclaimed act. Their music moves between dream pop, ambient, R&B, trap and electronic music. They describe their sound as “cold pop”: cool, emotional and eclectic.
