Founded in Berlin in 2013 and awarded the German Jazz Prize for “Best Large Ensemble” in 2022, the Trickster Orchestra takes its name from the mythological figure of the divine trickster who disrupts traditional cultural forms and develops new ones. The Trickster Orchestra, which is managed equally by women and men and is ethnically and sexually diverse, more than lives up to this claim. Now it has created its own festival, TransTraditionale, where it will perform on all three days alongside a variety of other acts. The opening night will feature the premiere of a commissioned work by the indigenous US trans woman inti figgis-vizueta.
