Tchaikovsky's famous Violin Concerto and Beethoven's 7th
The gay composer Peter Tchaikovsky wrote his famous violin concerto while recovering from a nervous breakdown on Lake Geneva, caused by his unhappy marriage to Antonina Milyukova. The piece is an emotional rollercoaster ride and a manifesto of survival. Star violinist Maxim Venerov takes on the solo part with the German Symphony Orchestra. Christoph Koncz conducts. The program also includes Beethoven's popular 7th Symphony and another violin concerto, “Carpe diem” by Alexey Shor.
