An imperfect evening at the theater becomes a mirror for internal transformations: Marianne dreams of a glamorous debut as a female icon in the spotlight—complete with dance, song, and breathtaking costumes. Yet the audience arrives early, encountering Marianne not in the glow of perfection, but in a state of vulnerability and uncertainty. Despite these adverse circumstances, Marianne holds fast to the dream. In doing so, the unfinished nature of the performance becomes a central element: it opens up a space where longings, struggles, and the complex interweavings of queer identity are explored.

Paul Marianne Furtwängler—non-binary, born in Munich in 1999—completed the "Expanded Theatre" master’s program at HKB Bern in 2025. The program focuses on the intersection of acting, movement, and queer forms of storytelling.
