Queer fairytales for grown-ups
"Once upon a time..." That’s how fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm begin, and we all know the title characters. Take Snow White, constantly confronted with the question: "Who is the fairest in the land?" Or Snow-White and her sister Rose-Red, wondering how to share the hot bear sitting in the audience. Then there are the gay dwarves in their shared flat, driving everyone crazy: "Who slept in my little bed?" Even the domestic harmony at Hansel and Gretel’s house has been disrupted ever since the kids started listening to ABBA, wearing makeup, and sporting high heels. But do all fairy tales have a happy ending? After all, who will ultimately be awakened by Prince Charming’s kiss? "We need answers," says the BKA. And those answers are now coming to light at Mehringdamm.
"Sound bizarre? Nope! Actors seasoned in fairy tales from the Hexenkessel Hoftheater and the Märchenhütten have put together a wild, high-energy show." The evening’s motto: "Mirror, mirror, I’m a queen—who is the fairest in Berlin?"
