The famous biblical one-act opera by Strauss, based on the play of the same name by Oscar Wilde – about sexual desire for an attractive but unattainable man that escalates to frenzy – returns to Berlin in a new production by Evgeny Titov. Nicole Chevalier takes on the title role of the lustful Princess of Judea, which is a fascinating expansion of her repertoire into the realm of high drama. Günter Papendell sings the role of the prophet Jochanaan, who rejects her love in order to come closer to God. A must-see for every opera lover in this city.
