Samuel Barber (1910-1981) and Leonard Bernstein (1918-1990) are among the most famous gay American composers of the 20th century. Simon Rattle conducts Barber's famous Adagio for Strings and the even more famous Symphonic Dances from West Side Story with the Venezuelan Youth Orchestra, combined with Mahler's Symphony No. 1.
