With Myriam Boulos + Olivia Arthur
The exhibition Close Enough . Perspectives by Women Photographers of Magnum presents works by twelve female photographers from the Magnum Photos agency and questions the assumption that physical proximity automatically creates transparency and immediacy.
The works tell stories of belonging, intimacy, and representation, but also of strangeness, vulnerability, and power relations. In her book What's Ours and her photographic work, Myriam Boulos depicts the social struggles in Lebanon that particularly affect women and queer people. She focuses on the relationships and lives of her queer friends, creating a photographic world in which queer people are accepted and valued. Her work covers topics such as youth, queerness, and protest in Beirut, presenting their perspectives.
Olivia Arthur's work contains queer elements and perspectives, mostly embedded in broader explorations of gender, identity, and social norms.
