Neuproduktion von Ersan Mondtag mit Pierre Emö als Ophelia
The acclaimed queer director Ersan Mondtag has commissioned Wilke Weermann to rewrite the famous Shakespearean source material, relocating Elsinore Castle to present-day Berlin—complete with parties, drugs, and darkrooms. In this setting, a male Ophelia (played by Pierre Emö) must assert himself as a gay man against the patriarchy after being brutally dumped by Hamlet (played by Sebastian Zimmer) for the sake of power. The production also features new electronic music by Robert Lippok.
Audiences can look forward to a provocative evening of theater.
The first preview is on November 4; the premiere is on November 5.
