Kaija Saariaho's piece "Trans" was premiered in 2015 by harpist Xavier de Maistre. The title refers to transformations and states of transition. The work combines the delicate, nuanced sounds of the solo harp with a richly colored, at times mysterious, orchestral landscape. De Maistre will also appear as a soloist in Berlin with the RSB, which will perform this harp concerto alongside Samy Moussa's hymn for orchestra, "Adgilis Deda," and Shostakovich's Symphony No. 6. Dima Slobodeniouk will conduct.

Pre-concert talk at 7:10 p.m. in the South Foyer with Steffen Georgi.
