BEGiNE was founded in 1986 as a café and cultural center for women, located in a building in Schöneberg that had been occupied by women and renovated through their own collective efforts. "Living and working together" was the motto of this housing project during the feminist era of the 1980s. The exhibition presents the history of one of Berlin’s most important spaces for women, featuring archival photographs spanning the years 1986 to 2026.
