Rosa von Praunheim (born Holger Bernhard Bruno Mischwitzky in Riga in 1942, died in Berlin in 2025) is considered a defining figure of New German Cinema and a radical activist in the queer movement, with around 70 films to his name. But beyond his cinematic work, he has developed an independent oeuvre as a visual artist—a body of work that seems more relevant today than ever before.
