Vernissage: „Susan Sontag – Sehen und gesehen werden “

  • Schwules Museum

Exhibition

The American author and critic Susan Sontag (1933–2004) was a "public intellectual"—a figure who, through her writings and her unconventional demeanor, sparked controversial debates and engaged with them head-on. The Schwules Museum is hosting the acclaimed exhibition *Susan Sontag: Seeing and Being Seen* (originally presented at the Bundeskunsthalle Bonn in 2025) and expanding upon it. A new section will trace Susan Sontag’s footsteps in Berlin, featuring recollections from contemporaries such as Ulrike Ottinger, Gesine Strempel, Erika & Ulrich Gregor, and Carolin Emcke. Another section is dedicated to the influence of Sontag’s thought on queer culture. Admission: Free!
