With the creation of this burial and memorial site, a special place of remembrance and visibility comes into being. It aims to commemorate queer life stories, provide space for mourning and remembrance, and serve as a statement against exclusion and oblivion. As part of the inauguration ceremony, a solemn wreath-laying will honor the LGBTI* individuals who lost their lives due to hatred and violence. The inauguration will take place on May 17th—the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT). On this day, people worldwide advocate for human rights, acceptance, and diversity.
