Space for shared grief and anger

"We are deeply saddened and angry in the wake of the multifaceted violence that marred Pride weekend in Berlin. We don’t want to face this alone, and we invite you to come together to mourn as one.

We mourn the person who was killed and the many injured in the attack at the CSD, those injured by police violence at the IQP, and all the instances of queer- and trans*phobia that we face during Pride and every day before and after—on the streets, at work, and within our families.

We know that our love is stronger than any hatred, any new anti-queer law, and any funding cuts to counseling centers and community spaces. And yet, all of this hurts so much.

We want to make space for our grief—not alone, but collectively—so that we can then take it to the streets as anger on another day (e.g., on Sunday starting at 5 p.m. at the Neptune Fountain).

The space for mourning is open from 5 to 9 p.m. and is organized by and for queer people and allies. You can come and go as you need.

There will be tea, a few places to sit, and a space for offerings. Feel free to bring something to contribute.

A small discussion session will take place at 7 p.m.

Thank you to Kiezbestattungen for making their space available to us."
