As part of the 2026 poetry festival, Irish author Seán Hewitt comes to Berlin.

The evening will focus on two poetry collections: Tongues of Fire (2020) and Rapture’s Road (2024). As the festival state, these works open up mythopoetic connections between the self and nature. In “Dryad,” the speaker describes meeting men for sex in the forest, under the watch of a tree nymph, “in a dark chamber / of the wood, guarded, and made safe,” and observes that “now / each woodland smells quietly of sex.”

All poems presented at the event have been specially translated for the Poesiefestival Berlin.

The event will be held in English and will not be interpreted.
